30 Before 30

I will be turning 30 in just under 2 years.  Each birthday after 24 has gotten harder, but this one has been the hardest.  Not  because I am afraid of turning 30, but because I am afraid of turning 30 with little in my life to show for it.  This probably sounds pretty outrageous to my friends and family, but I know deep down we all feel a little bit of it.  I am married to the most amazing man, we own a home together, and I have recently started my own business. I want to do more, see more, BE more!

My list of 30 is a bit daunting as many of them are multi-faceted, but I am up for the challenge!  Without further ado and in no particular order other than category…

Health and Fitness Goals

1. Learn to surf (or at least attempt) by taking a lesson.

2. Be able to complete 30 real pushups in a row. 10 isn’t cutting it!

3. Hit my goal weight.

16. Write an eBook.

17. Build a grown-up, well-stocked bar.

18. Completely organize and declutter our home.

19. Complete at least 5 home projects currently on our list.

20. Conquer a fear – Something like doing a zip line!

21. Establish a skin care regimen.

22. Complete a 30 day challenge.

23. Visit 30 local restaurants that I’ve never been to in Phoenix.

24. Start a collection.

25. Read 12 books in 12 months.

27. Complete 30 Random Acts of Kindness.

28. Unplug for at least 24 hours.

29. Become a morning person.

30. Become a mother.

Well, there it is! I will be giving an update of my status at least once a month until the big birthday, but you can check my status any time: here!

Must Try App: Flipagram

New Year’s has come and gone. There were all sorts of “Best of 2013” apps and blog posts going around.  One app in particular stuck out to me.  Flipagram is an app where you can easily select photos from your camera roll to add to a 15 or 30 second video. The number of photos you select will dictate how quickly the photos display.  As you know, Instagram videos can be up to 15 seconds and boy do those 15 seconds fly when you are trying to cram all your memories in!

Click the link below the photos for the vids or check out my Instagram page @courtneydolsen ! If you posted a Flipagram vid to Instagram, comment with your username and I will check it out! Have fun!

Blind Wine Tasting

It is officially one month until the wedding! Until last weekend, we still hadn’t decided on which wines we were going to serve.  My mom and I had found a Prosecco that we loved and we enjoyed the red wine that was served at our tasting.  We weren’t completely convinced with the white one from the tasting, so we decided to do one of our own.  Mom and I went to Total Wine and talked to their “Italian wine expert” to select some whites.  We left with 3 wines with two different price points. On to the tasting!

Dad brown bagged the three wines and marked each one A, B, and C, while Mom threw together a quick fruit and cheese plate.  Each of us had a sticky note and a pen to take notes of each wine.  As you can see, we were taking it seriously!  For me, having a little bit of cheese helped to differentiate between the wines and really enjoy their taste.   While we weren’t unanimous in our decision, we enjoyed the evening and feel more comfortable with our choice.
