Five Things

1. I scored this dress at a Neiman Marcus sale this weekend for $110 (originally $358).  Pretty excited about wearing it next year!

2. Jeff and I finished our last course in the pre-marital prep this weekend.  It has been a long and amazing journey.  The countdown is on for November 2, 2013!

3. We finally got around to hanging our chandelier. There were plenty of obstacles and it turns out we will need to do some repairs to the ceiling, but we did it!  Once hung, we also realized it was much too high.  Will be saving the project of lowering it for another day. My arms couldn’t hold it up any longer!

4.  I have a hard time justifying spending a lot of money on lamps.  This one by Threshold is $29.99 for the base.  At this price, it’s hard not to find a home for them!

 5.  We caught the season 3 premiere of Scandal on Thursday! We were sure to use our Scandal wine glasses!

Wish List: Bar Cart and Accessories

It seems the bar cart is all the rage, but they can be pretty costly.  Target has a new, pretty little bar cart for a steal at $129.99.  The combination of wood and brass is perfect and goes with so many decor styles.  Some of their bar accessories are not too shabby either.

I love the mixed metal bar accessories from Crate & Barrel! These would go really well if you are going with a more conventional piece of furniture as your bar with a cool tray. I think we will mix in some wood elements.  Fun to get away from the traditional shiny silver cocktail shaker!

We got these super tall stem red wine glasses for a shower gift.  Anyone recognize what show they are from? Scandal!!! If not, they look exactly like them and I am going to pretend they are the same as Olivia Pope’s!

Does liquor count as an accessory? What if I don’t drink it because it’s so pretty? This bottle of Reyka caught my eye at Total Wine the other day.

Stay tuned to see how we style our bar cart!

Blind Wine Tasting

It is officially one month until the wedding! Until last weekend, we still hadn’t decided on which wines we were going to serve.  My mom and I had found a Prosecco that we loved and we enjoyed the red wine that was served at our tasting.  We weren’t completely convinced with the white one from the tasting, so we decided to do one of our own.  Mom and I went to Total Wine and talked to their “Italian wine expert” to select some whites.  We left with 3 wines with two different price points. On to the tasting!

Dad brown bagged the three wines and marked each one A, B, and C, while Mom threw together a quick fruit and cheese plate.  Each of us had a sticky note and a pen to take notes of each wine.  As you can see, we were taking it seriously!  For me, having a little bit of cheese helped to differentiate between the wines and really enjoy their taste.   While we weren’t unanimous in our decision, we enjoyed the evening and feel more comfortable with our choice.
